Fulham manager Marco Silva to thevBBC:

"We have players out and in some weeks our team will be stronger and for sure we will be different.

"The physicality of the Championship? The games are always this way. But it is up to you decide what style you want to play and to answer what your opponents do, We have enough players who know what playing in the Championship means.

"Of course there was frustration that we didn't get the result that we wanted and that I believe we deserved.

"At this level when you have chances to be more clinical and kill the game you can be comfortable. We had chances and we were dominant. The goal was a good example. We should score the second goal - but that is football."

But we’ll be back.

Sources: Tottenham interest in Parker grows as Levy ‘thinks the world of’ him

Tottenham have made behind-the-scenes moves to assess Scott Parker’s interest in becoming their new manager, Football Insider has been told.

This site revealed last Saturday (1st May) there is a growing interest from Spurs chiefs in the 40-year-old Fulham boss.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the club have put out feelers for Parker and his cause is being championed by all-powerful Daniel Levy.

The London club’s chairman is said to “think the world of” Parker and believes he has attributes that make him a leading contender for the vacant post.

These include coaching and playing pedigree at the top level, with a CV that includes Championship promotion, as well as none of the baggage and controversy that accompanied recently-sacked Jose Mourinho.

Critically, it would not cost a huge compensation fee to extricate Parker from Fulham, something that is a major hurdle to landing another Premier League manager Brendan Rodgers.

Tottenham are willing to bide their time to appoint their new manager, and that will see them hold fire on a potential approach for the Cottagers boss.

Fulham are locked in a relegation battle although any realistic hope of staying up appeared to end with last Saturday’s defeat to Chelsea.

Parker spent two years as a player at Tottenham and also began his coaching career in 2017 overseeing the club’s Under-18s.

He left a year later to join Fulham as first-team coach working alongside then-boss Slavisa Jokanovic before eventually being promoted to the manager’s job.

The Londoners have experienced early setbacks in their search to replace Mourinho with early favourite Julian Nagelsmann joining Bayern Munich and Rodgers publicly distancing himself from the post.

Spurs’ pursuit of Rodgers is not completely over and they are willing to triple his salary to £15million-a-year including bonuses to get a deal agreed.

Come sempre attacco evanescente.

Chelsea continued to look a threat with their pace on the counter. Timo Werner picked his head up and squared for Hakim Ziyech who looked certain for a tap-in. The brilliant Areola clawed his hands across to push it to safety.

Mendy continued to preserve his side’s clean sheet as Ola Aina was the latest to force a save against his former club. This one arguably the pick of the bunch on the stroke of half time as the shot was deflected en-route.

The sucker punch took the wind out of Fulham early in the second half. Havertz sprung the offside trap to receive a pass from Werner to slot home. The task now an uphill battle.

Fulham remained patient in their build-up play and Ivan Cavaleiro was having joy swinging in crosses from the right. A flurry of balls needed turning behind by James.

There was a proud moment for Carvalho as he made his Premier League debut, being introduced with 10 minutes to go.

The game fizzled out meaning Fulham remain nine points away from safety with four games remaining.

Chelsea: Mendy; Zouma, Christensen, Silva; James, Gilmour, Mount (Abraham 75’), Ziyech (Kante 66’), Chilwell (Alonso 81’); Havertz, Werner.

Subs: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Alonso, Kante, Jorginho, Hudson-Odoi, Pulisic, Abraham, Anjorin.

Fulham: Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Robinson; Lookman, Lemina (Carvalho 77’), Anguissa, De Cordova-Reid; Cavaleiro (Onomah 77’), Maja (Mitrović 81’).

Fulham’s three points were snatched away in the closing seconds at the Emirates after more late drama for the second week in a row.

Josh Maja’s scored an emphatic penalty after 57 minutes following a trip on Mario Lemina, and just when it looked there was to be a massive win, Eddie Nketiah came off the bench to grab a late equaliser.

In his 100th game in charge, Scott Parker made five changes from the side that played Wolves last Friday as Maja, Tosin, Frank Anguissa, Ademola Lookman and Ivan Cavaleiro all came in to start.

Kenny Tete was forced out after returning a positive Covid test, whilst Terrence Kongolo was also sidelined after sustaining a season-ending injury last-time-out. Lookman’s return from a knock meant there was some good news on the injury front also.

Paghiamo diverse carenze soprattutto in attacco, purtroppo.
